Law School Gunners

picture-5Ask any law student about the term “gunner” and chances are they will have a million-and-one things to say. A gunner is a law student who, among other things, is just so unbelievably annoying that you want to bash their head in with your heaviest law book. Perhaps that was a bit too harsh, but at one time or another there has to have been someone in your law school class that just made your blood boil. Maybe you have a classmate who constantly raises his or her hand, making an hour long lecture drag on an extra five minutes. Or perhaps a student has a regular habit of leading the class down an entirely unrelated and unimportant path of thought. The point of the matter is, gunners suck. But, as much as you love to hate them, you also need them. You need them to fill in for you once the professor gets around to asking questions. You need them to ask their unimportant and redundant questions so you can wander off mentally for the remaining twenty minutes of class. It is a love-hate relationship, but gunners do have their uses. I actually came upon this video a little while back, but just hadn’t gotten around to doing something with it. We will be taking a look at the DVD that this video comes from  (”All About Law School”) in the upcoming schedule. Happy Mother’s Day to all you madre’s out there.
